While our stay at the colonial district we will be visiting: the "PLaza de la Independencia", the "Cathedral" church, "Government and Archbishop Palace", the Church of "La Compañía" where amazing adornments and gold altars will be seen, the "San Francisco" Church which has been built in the seventeenth century. Next, visit to the Middle of the World where you will visit the monument that divides the northern & southern hemispheres, which was built in the XVII century when a French Expedition defined the precise location of the line that divides the world. Optionally, visit either to Ethnographic Museum or Intiñan (known as the Solar Culture Museum).

THE OTAVALO MARKET

On the way to the Otavalo Market, we will stop by the following locations: Calderon, a town where the famous masapan dolls are made; Cayambe, to admire and take pictures of the beautiful landscape and snow capped mountains of the zone (equatorial line); Mira Lago, to take pictures of the beautiful San Pablo Lake. Otavalo, here the Otavaleños (natives) set up a market in which a bartering manner of shopping is taken place. The market hosts a variety of different handcrafted items. Leather stores at Cotacachi will also be visited.

BAÑOS

On the way to the city of Baños, we will enjoy our voyage through the Avenue of the Volcanoes, being able to admire (if weather conditions allowed) the following: Cotopaxi, Rumiñahui, Los Ilinizas, Corazón, Pichincha, besides the city of Ambato. Baños, meaning "Baths" in Spanish, is a small town full of bustling tourists looking for a nice temperate weather and exciting trips and expeditions around the area. Baños is surrounded by numerous waterfalls (where the town gets its name from), cloud forests (ideal for bird watching) and wild orchids. The town is also known as "the door to the Amazon rainforest". It offers a great opportunity for hiking, mountain biking, rafting, etc.

AMAZON JUNGLE (TENA)

Tena, the capital of the Napo Province, is an attractive and quiet city in the Amazon rainforest, known as the “cinnamon capital" of Ecuador. Tena is a popular launching point for jungle, kayaking and rafting tours in Ecuador's Amazon rainforest region. Tena and its surrounding indigenous communities are also bases for many volunteers working for reforestation projects. For a rainforest city, Tena's climate is surprisingly comfortable and cooler than the jungle to the east, as it is 500M above sea level. There's rainfall year-round. The heaviest rains come in April, May, and June, but even in this very wet time it doesn't necessarily rain every day or all day when it does rain. The Napo River is Ecuador’s major Amazon River tributary and the defining characteristic of the Napo Province.
